Why do you need my Tax ID?

Acme Ventures LLC, as a B2B service provider, requires clients to provide a Tax ID number. For most businesses this is an EIN, or Employer Identification Number.

We use this information for:
  • Tax and accounting purposes
  • As part of our efforts to prevent fraud and/or abuse
  • As a security verification method
  • To verify your business
  • As your account identifier

I don't have an EIN, only a Social Security Number

If you are a sole proprietor, or don't have an EIN, you may provide a social security number. However, we request you provide social security numbers on a W9 form, and not on an online form.

You can download a blank W9 form from the IRS website and can upload it during the client sign-up process or email it to [email protected]

Is it safe to share my EIN?

Yes, it is safe to share your Employer Identification Number (EIN) with trusted entities like banks and vendors.

I'm an international customer and don't have an EIN or U.S. Tax ID number.

If your business uses a U.S. address a Tax ID number is required. If you operate wholly outside the U.S. and do not have a U.S. issued Tax ID number you can use a local tax identification number or equivalent business identification number used in your country. If we are not able to verify this number, we may request additional documentation.

How do you keep this information secure?

All forms that collect tax id information are sent using the same level of secure connection and encryption used by banks. Our systems are regularly updated and reviewed to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Additionally, we train our staff on data privacy best practices, ensuring that client information is kept confidential.
